New Day. New week. New Month. New Year.
… These are all times when people think about setting goals. Many even break it down into hours or minutes depending on what they are striving for. How about you? Do you have some new goals?
When you think about goals for your business you might be thinking about
- Revenue to your business
- Referrals given and received
- New Clients
- One to one or coffee meetings
- Networking events to attend
- New relationships
- Continuing Education or Seminars to attend
- Books to read
We typically think of S.M.A.R.T. goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timed) I will achieve this goal by this date… These are definitely important.
At Integrus we use Colors (behavioral styles) to create the life we love by successfully blending all aspects of our life and living in Full Color. We use Colors to understand ourselves and the people we come into contact with. We also use them in our marketing and communication, our team development our task management and among other things, our goals. And so I would like to add, in addition to our goals being S.M.A.R.T. we also need to include the colors!
Remember what behavior each Color represents:
- Reds – Time and Money
- Yellow – Unique, creative, Social and fun
- Green – Relationships and trust
- Blue – Details, analytics and proof
So let’s say our goal is to increase our revenue by 20% in the next 12 months. How would we include the colors?
Here’s an example…
Red: The goal itself is a Red goal. But to break it down even more, we might break it down by how much money we will bring in each week or month as a target to reach for.
Yellow: Do you belong to any networking groups or organizations? Being will make a huge difference in your referability. Add in some social events that could help you connect on a different level with some new people.
Green: Are you having Productive One to One or coffee meetings? Are you giving referrals to those you have built trust with? Could you do something special like handwriting a card to thank someone for business or just to tell them you appreciate them? Really, who doesn’t love receiving a card in the mail just because?
Blue: Are you doing research on the referrals you want so that you can be specific when someone asks how they can help you? Are you tracking the referrals you give and receive to be able to understand where your referrals are coming from? Are you sending your invoices on time and adding these referrals and new clients into your CRM so that you can follow up with them in a timely and relevant way?
Can you see that adding Colorful details to your goals can really make them more achievable, yielding you better and faster results? By living life in Full Color, you can easily blend your life and achieve your goals in an authentic way that works for you. You will also be able to track it so that it can be repeatable as well as sustainable by analyzing what worked and what you learned from.
Your challenge for today? Set your S.M.A.R.T. goals, but this time take it up a level and set them in Full Color. Your life blend will become easier and you will achieve the goals you set.
